Itinerary - Southern India Ayurvedic Tour

Day 1 - Arrival in Mumbai

Upon arrival at the Mumbai airport, meet our tour representative who will help you with a guided transfer to your pre-booked hotel. After reaching, complete the check-in formalities. Rest of the day is at your leisure. Either stay at the hotel or go out and savor lip-smacking street food, interact with the locals, explore famous beaches, etc. Mumbai is home to many Bollywood celebs. So you might get lucky to spot one or many of them.

Day 2 - Mumbai sightseeing

Day 2 of the tour starts with a hearty breakfast. Thereafter, get ready to visit some of the top tourist attractions in Mumbai. To start with, you will be exploring the Elephanta caves. Tagged as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the caves consist of rock cut stone sculptures. The Great Cave or Cave number 1 is the most imposing one and is a depiction of the Brahmanical rock-cut architecture.

Once done with exploring the caves, return to Mumbai by noon. Later on visit the very popular Dhobi Ghat, Gateway of India, Hanging Gardens and Juhu beach.

Day 3 - Mumbai – Chennai (by air)

Start the day with scrumptious breakfast. Later on, hit the road to the airport and board a flight for Chennai. Post reaching, check-in at the hotel. Gorge on a delicious lunch. This is followed by Chennai sightseeing tour. The first attraction of the day is Amir Mahal, the official residence of the titular Nawab of Arcot and his family.

Next on the list is Arignar Anna Zoological Park. Also known as Vandalur Zoo, the zoological garden is home to the huge number of flora and fauna. From here, travel to the Fort Museum. Exhibiting a fine collection of the memorabilia of the colonial era and invincible artwork, the museum is a must-visit. Also, delight in marveling at around 20 species of snakes at the Snake Park. Call it a day at the Marina Beach, the longest natural urban beach in India.

Day 4 - Chennai – Kanchipuram – Chennai (75 km)

After having your breakfast, head towards Kanchipuram for a day trip. Although a small city, but the intriguing destination houses several ancient temples. Spend the entire day marveling at the architectural brilliance and paying homage at the spectacular temples. There are around 18 Vaishnava temples and 108 Shiv temples.

Return to the hotel in Chennai for a night stay.

Day 5 - Chennai - Mahabalipuram (58 km)

Hit the road to Mahabalipuram post breakfast. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can complete the check formalities. Subsequently, leave for exploring the best places to visit in Mahabalipuram. Adored with spectacular temples and monuments, the town lures history buffs from all around the world. The Group of Monuments at Mahabalipuram stand out amongst the rest.

Today, your well-planned itinerary includes a trip to the Shore Temple – overlooking the shore of Bay of Bengal, the temple is built from granite blocks. Next attraction is Varaha Cave temple – a rock temple which holds the title of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later on, proceed towards the Arjuna's Penance - also known as the Descent of Ganges, the iconic attraction features a historic sculpture carved into boulders and beguiles with intricate details.

Day 6 - Mahabalipuram

Begin the day leisurely. Satiate your hunger with delicious breakfast. Rest of the day is to be spent doing the activities of your interest. Go out to explore the surroundings on your own. Learn more about the historical legacy of the place. Head towards the beach to partake in fun activities. Delight in a rendezvous with the locals. Admire the local performances. A plethora of things to do in Mahabalipuram won't leave your disappointed.

Day 7 - Mahabalipuram – Thanjavur (300 km)

Gorge on appetizing breakfast. Later on, proceed to Thanjavur. Also known as the 'Cradle of Arts', the city is home to spellbinding structures in the state. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel and relax for a while.

The afternoon is reserved for a city tour which includes visiting well-known attractions like Archaeological Museum. Day 8 - Thanjavur - Swamimalai (35 km)

Day 8 of the Southern India Ayurvedic tour starts with a yummy breakfast. Thereafter, leave for Swamimalai. Nestled on the banks of River Cauvery, the town is one of the six abodes of the Lord Muruga.

Upon reaching, complete the check-in formalities at the pre-decided hotel. Rest of the day is at your leisure. Partake in the activities that grab your attention. Step out to sightsee the nearby attractions. Savor delectable cuisines. Go shopping or communicate with the natives.

Day 9 - 13 - Swamimalai (Ayurvedic treatment)

Days 9 to 13 of your trip are going to be the most rejuvenating days of your life. Once done with your breakfast, it will be the time to soothe your senses. Throughout the day, you will be practicing various 'asanas' of Yoga under the supervision of an expert. Attend the meditation session and bask in the bliss. This will be followed by Ayurveda and Spa activities.

Day 14 - Swamimali – Trichy (75 km)

Kick start the day with a road trip to Trichy. After you reach, you will be comfortably transferred to one of our listed hotels. Check - in and later proceed for a city tour. The tourist attractions you will be touring today are Tiruchirapalli Rock Fort temple – an ancient temple and fortification perched on a historic rock and Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple – also known as the Thiruvarangam, the shrine is dedicated to a reclining form of Lord Vishnu.

Other must-visit places included in the itinerary are Sri Jambukeshwara Temple – dedicated to Lord Shiva, the 1800 years old sanctum sanctorum represents the water element and St. John's Church – A sacred place reflecting the spiritual ardor associated with it.

Day 15 - Trichy – Chennai (300 km)
